MCS Group is delighted to be partnering with one of our closest clients, a rapidly scaling Insurtech firm, to recruit a Software Development Engineer in Test at a hugely exciting time for the business. With significant investment secured for 2025, the technology team is set to expand by over 50% in the first half of 2026, including major growth within the testing function.
This exclusive opportunity will see you champion quality across a suite of enterprise-grade, distributed software products, while helping embed modern test automation practices across the organisation. You'll work as part of a high-performing engineering team to ensure their platforms are reliable, scalable, secure, and built for the future.
This is a hybrid role based in Belfast.
What You'll Do
As a Software Development Engineer in Test, you'll play a key role in shaping the quality strategy within your engineering pod, delivering automated and manual testing across web applications, APIs, and cloud hosted services, while working closely with engineers at code level.
Build and maintain automated test suites and frameworks using modern tools such as Selenium, Cypress and Playwright
Write and maintain code to support testing, framework development and internal tooling
Develop reusable test components, utilities or libraries used by wider engineering teams
Design and execute functional, integration, performance and security tests, ensuring smooth third party integrations
Collaborate closely with Software Engineers, Platform Engineers and Product teams to embed quality early in the life-cycle
Validate developer unit tests and ensure solutions align with business requirements
Drive continuous quality improvements through CI/CD integration and strong version control practices
Conduct performance and load testing to assess scalability and system reliability
Work with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) to validate infrastructure and service integrations What You'll Bring
Strong commercial experience in software testing, with a clear focus on automation and engineering led quality
Programming experience in JavaScript or C#, with confidence writing code beyond test cases
Experience building test frameworks, tooling or shared components used by engineering teams
Proven experience with modern test automation tools and frameworks
Experience testing cloud based systems and microservices
Solid API testing experience
Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps etc.)
